Chapter 3-
Upgrade Your Lessons
Key Principles
Note:
The detailed examples for each principle, exercises for the teacher and mini-lessons for the class are written in the book.
creating Anticipation
In order to vary my lessons, from time to time I create special lesson plans and activities. I make sure my class will anticipate these lessons by making a "promo" each time. I can do this by giving them a hint of what's about to come or showing them a glimpse of the lesson...
Encourage your students to say "Yes and", that is, not only to take part but also to be involved in the preparation for the special acitivity you'll convey. They can bake a cake, create a trailer or a poster.
How to Set SMART Goals
spice up your lessons
Using media, playing a game, or starting a discussion during the lesson make the difference between "another lesson" and a special one students will remember.

improvisation
In our work as teachers, we are often required to improvise whether it is when we are asked to enter a class we don't know as substitute teachers or when we prepare a wonderful lesson plan but only a few students arrive.
The essence of improvisation in teaching is the ability to think quickly and change your lesson plan as you go along according to the challenges you are facing. This skill requires practice and patience. This is why, one should look at these lessons as part of his/her teaching experience- some lessons will be better than others.

educational kinesiology
Educational kinesiology or learning kinesiology is a practical method that uses simple body movements in order to develop more parts of the brain, and thus enhancing the student's physical, learning, emotional abilities.
peer teaching
In order to vary my lessons, I sometimes repeat a particular topic by using the "peer learning" method.
Here, my job as a teacher is to guide students, provide learning tools, help, encourage the students and observe the learning process.
