Your answer must refer to both your life experience (or another story/ poem/ movie etc)                AND the story/ poem/ play we have learned.

Otherwise, you'll lose points. In other words, you have to point out which aspects of the story are similar to the piece of literary work and which ones are different

For example:

1. What is the conflict of the protagonist (main character) which is described in the story/poem?

*Compare it with a relevant conflict you've faced in your life. Explain and give examples.

2. Compare the conflict in the story/play/poem to a conflict which is presented in a piece you like (a poem/song/novel/story/TV series/Movie). How are the two conflicts similar? How are the two conflicts different?

Step #1: Think about the connection between the two.

Step #2: Describe a relevant event (from your life (1) or another piece (2). Explain the connection between the two. Provide examples from the text.

In the story/ poem the speaker discusses a conflict. Describe and explain the conflict in 2-3 sentences.  In my life, I also experienced a conflict. (2-3 lines: explain and give examples). Thus, the conflict we experienced is the same. In both it was a social/cultural/ personal/ family conflict. In addition, (suggest another similar aspect) 

 

In contrast, in my life, I ................ whereas in the poem/story/play.............Then, explain and give examples from the text. In addition, in my life................... as opposed to the poem/story/play ...........
