Practices 4 the new Module E


Teaching new words:


1. Display and translate- Ask students to tell you if they know any. Write the correct answers as you hear/see them, and add any they didn’t know.


2. Display and illustrate- Display and say each new word/expression on separate slides, accompanied by a picture. It helps to use associated pictures.


Then show an item alone, and challenge students to remember the translation; when it is not possible, add the picture; if they can’t remember, remind them.


Reviewing words


1. Display and contextualize- Invite students to suggest, either orally or in writing


• Sentences using any one word/ two words

• Sentences that are general/false statements

• Sentences that are false/true about themselves

• Tell a story using the words. Begin the story with the words ‘Once upon a time…’ and then other students improvise the rest.


2. Dictation - Dictate the items (sentences, phrases, or complete sentences) and tell them to write them down. Display the right answers afterwards and tell students to self-check or check each other's.


3. Sentence completion- Display the beginning of a sentence on the screen that includes the key word, and invite students to complete the senteces.
